I got the 350 for my 6 year old. He outgrew it over the summer. He’s 4’6 so I went with the 650. Perfect size for him, just a little heavy but he is able to ride it with no issues. I agree with you, Razor’s age ranges are way off.
Sorry I wish I could. I have put a electro and co kit on the bike. It’s a lot faster now .
I USE TO HAVE A RAZOR MX650 BUT IT WAS BLUE AND IT USE TO GO 21 MPH BUT IT WOUN'T DIRVE SO WE GIVE IT AYWY
We have a 350 too it was way slower than the 650 . We have since upgraded the 650 it will go about 50MPH now.
I have a razor mx650 and I perfectly understand that it goes 17mph and the one that you have it goes 15mph but for me I think the mx650 is better because it has suspension and works really well with me on it but have to wear helmet but yours looks really nice 👍
We're still riding ours. It's a fun little ride.
It would definitely matter. If you have a Razor they are really fun when you upgrade them . They are even without the upgrades. I put the 76 volt kit on my with crf 50 like forks . It’s stupid fast now
I am not trying to trick anyone. With any bike you can give certain cercumstances and the speed will be different to name a few, the terrain, weight even the temp considering it is electric and could impact the batteries. No tricks that is what I got on that day. Keep in mind I am 155 lbs. Razor states 17mph top speed. So considering I’m 155lbs on terrain that’s not too bad in my opinion.
You are right about that. Since this video I’ve gotten this to go a lot faster with upgrades and a 76 volt battery.
That’s what I got out of mine. You can take the limiter off to get more or do upgrades like electro and co.
I did put a genuine razor 650 motor on sx500 and no change in speed. The batteries and controller (power delivery) are identical on all 3 bikes
@AcedBikesyeah i’m putting full 48v kit on it and when i bought it i thought it would get 10 miles at least like it said on the website
i bought a used mx650 for 400 stock and it gets less than 2 miles on a 13 hour charge
Im 11, ride a MX650, i put a new battery, now it goes 26 MPH
the phone speedometers aren’t as accurate for me it got 21 mph on flat gravel field with a proper 50$ speedometer.
See some hate and saw you upgraded it but i cant upgrade mine yet my 10 year old doesnt need to go 25 mph just yet and im heavy guy 220lb and still love popping wheelies on this thing at around 14 mph puts a smile on my face dont care 😂
@Manual-VR it’s so clapped I striped it now I’m upgrading it
I put the mx650 motor on mx500 and sx500 and didn’t notice a difference 🤔
Same I also modded my razor but I crashed and now it's totaled it's not totaled it's just doesn't work right now it's tuned and the bike doesn't work anymore I did some jumps and burnouts and the throttle kept going and I wasn't even pressing it and I smashed straight into a wall going about 30 mph I had no gear on and I fell directly on rocks I almost passed out so bye
Only hating that is marketed and typically sold for more when its the same bike. Same battery and same controller. I put 650w motor on mx500 and sx500 and no 500w motor on mx650 and change is speed
@RidinWithD-cv5hu I got 25 but I don’t use it no more because it has a flat and I got a tuttio
"once i had it up, it struggled to stay up." Ace 2025
I got a free 2021 mx500 and a $65 2018 mx650, I like the yellow 😂 but the forks and rear swing arms are rusted and paint chipped, so I’m swapping the back end and front forks from the mx500 over now. basically taking rebuilding the mx650 with all the good stuff. W video
I like modded razors it’s just that frame is not really built to last me and my friend were riding one and the frame snapped in like three places
Yes, but its negligible difference when I put 650w motor on my kid sx500 and no change in top speed and torque. Hence the reason for video
Yes. Even when I upgraded the battery, i simply swapped it for a lithium battery with higher ah, i don’t increase the voltage at all. So that wouldn’t have changed the speed at all. What it does change is that it gives more consistent power through the battery charge
16-17 mph. I reduced the front cog on the motor to have 1 less tooth which reduced my top speed by 1-1.5 MPH but gave me a little more power from start and climbing hills.
I ride my sons. It pulls me around the bmx track no problem.
Nice! While it’s not got the pick me up of a gas powered bike, it is fun to play around with. Not sure if I mentioned it in this video; but I did end up changing the front sprocket to be one less tooth allowing for better acceleration. It did drop the top speed down 1-2 mph but for me, it worked better that way. I also changed the batteries out to be lithium vs lead acid.
those are not dirtbikes like those things are so slow. i have the mx650 and they are so slow
Yes…. Kind of… remember this is powered by an electric motor. The battery and computer module is enclosed in the plastic cover which provides protection against rain, water splashes, etc but it’s not sealed to prevent water from getting in if it was submerged. The motor, in the back is open to the elements but it is decently protected. The wiring is all covered up with protective sheaths and the side of the motor has some exposure but it’s minimal. You’re not going to ruin it from water being splashed on from your tires and such but avoid submersion or deep puddles that could get the side of the motor wet. I’ve driven this around in the snow and got it covered. Snow melted off in the garage. Didn’t have any problems. I’ve ridden this through mud and haven’t had any issues. 🤷🏼♂️
I upgraded my to it went like 45mph I love it
I'm 6'3 & 230lb & it holds me just fine & it goes to the Max speed 😂😂😂
I got one that goes 60 and also that’s a sx500 not a mx650 amazon has it labeled wrong
Don’t listen to this guy. They are definitely different in power. I have both brand new out the box and the 650 gets fought over because of the way it handles my weight much better
@PatOutdoorsmy bike has been charging for 12 hours and than when it turns on i have to twist it a little bit and it goes so slow
I like the original decals. Just got one for my son. It’s fun. Wish it was a little faster.
Yea, it gets up to 15-17MPH with me on it. Not bad for a stock electric bike.
I have one of these and they are awesome
That’s hard to say.. I ride it and have fun rolling around on it and I’m 5’11”. My son who’s 4’ tall can ride it too, but it took getting used to handling it for him. He rides the mx350 and that seems small on him. But the 650 looks a little big; but he can still ride it.
I would consider this a “mini bike” or “pit bike”. It will have no problem pulling you around. I ended up switching the front motor sprocket out for a 10 tooth sprocket instead of the stock 11 tooth and it dropped top speed down to 15.5 mph but it pulls a lot better from stopped.
@Evans4g4b well i got it when i was 8 and im 11 now. i was like 4'8 im 5'2 now. you have to know how to ride a bike and have controll of it it goes up to 18 mph per hour and im a bigger kid so it should work for you
@BRichSolution i noticed the 650 will pull me better and goes faster than the 500, i did a comparison but at different times it's definitely faster but not $200 faster for $200 you could upgrade controller and motor then another $100-200 48v actually found a deal for 36v bat for $69 might have to do 2 of those and run a 72 v
Never keep outdoors during winter killed the battery’s and it broke then I fixed it but you would have to pay like 100$-90$ for new batteries
@454bard `I want to say 8-10 miles realistically with the factory 36V SLA batteries. I upgraded to a 72V 20AH lithium battery recently and now I get about 20-25 miles depending on what speed I'm traveling.
Just got mine today and it is fun already fell like three times all at top speed off road
best bike eveerrr got it for x-mas and it is soo fast perfact strartout bike
Funny I stumble across this video now. I have a razor mx650 and it was trash. I put a 2000w 48v 16.5 ah battery and kit with a quick throttle and a 2in lift suspension and now it handles and feels ALOT better and I've raced a mototec 48v and ate it on every run lol
@kylealarcon5840 I rode about 20 miles the other day and had 66v leftover.
All depends with what battery and controller it's combined with. My "4300 Rated" Motor goes significantly faster than my 1800, even though they were both designed to run at 48V, simply because I'm using it with a higher amperage rated controller and a 72V battery pack. It does not hotter than the one that's still 48V though. Also depends what sprocket size combo you are working with.
I did a drifter with a 3kW setup and it goes 40mph but also did a Dune buggy which goes 30mph but is way more fun because it handles amazingly. Also have real kart wheels and slicks on the Dune.
Got my kit in yesterday and it’s way faster than this video shows! V2.1 is insanely good, I got the 72v with heat sink and key switch. Easily going 45 ~ 50 mph with plaid like acceleration
@Jamarion1175 Well I'm 172 lbs and it goes 16.8 MPH with me on it on flat ground and I would say it's that's just not enough for me to have fun. It now goes 27 MPH with some modifications I've done and now I'm satisfied with the speed.
Mines is 60v 3000w and im get 43mph stock sprocket also
Thanks upgraded mine probably 35 max but that’s just fine for me
I just bought a sx500 and bought all parts I needed from Amazon and eBay to upgrade. I upgraded the motor to a 48v, the battery, controller, throttle, put a 3 speed on, and handle bars as well as some other things and it’s totally different. It hauls ass now. Almost threw me off on accident the first time letting on the throttle and it was only on 1 speed😂
I did a 48v kit on my mx650 and it hauls ass so I bet the 72v kit is dope asf 👌
Last year I bought a used MX650. Did a 3000w motor kit. After I hooked everything up, the ECU shorted (fried itself). Was a sad experience after making it a 4 battery fully upgraded bike. Always make sure you get quality parts! (if you go cheap kit, it's very likely that the throttle won't work, or the controller will short out.)
I have one built with the same kit...suspension freaking blows on this thing. Fortunately I also built a pit bike conversion with the qs 138 v3 kit from them and its insane. videos on my channel
@BRichSolution we had 3 mx500 and 3 mx650 in our group of friends and every mx500 we gpsd at 17 mph even and the mx650 varied a little one did 18mph which was mine one did 19mph and one did 20mph even if we switched bikes which is weird so weight didn’t play a factor in that either
Me and my brother have had mx500 and mx650 for years and we’ve raced them countless times gps them too mx650 has slightly higher top speed same torque though but it does pull ahead in top speed even with me weighing 50lbs more than my brother at the time
I would tend agree. I don't have good method of measuring the torque and the manufacturing differences could also be a factor. Ironically when I swapped the old 500w motor for brand new direct razor 650 motor the bikes top speed decreased by 0.5 mph. As for the torque I would say negligible between the 500 and 650. If I have time maybe I can motor swap the 500 & 650 and perform an acceleration test?
Batteries & Controllers are all the same for MX & SX. The MX650 might have 650W vs 500W but I doubt it as I stated in video when I put the 650W motor on my sons SX500 the top speed didn't change and the 500W motor on the MX650 had the same speed.
Just an update on these a few months later: our 3 year old is off the 125 and is now riding the mx350. We have had only had one maintenance issue on any of them. I was riding the mx650 (I weigh around 180 lbs) and doing some jumps the kids made. Hard landing broke the chain tensioner spring. Ordered one off of Amazon for a few bucks and it's a super easy repair. These bikes are some of the highest return on fun money we've purchased for our kids (with the only close competition being the trampoline). High, high recommendation. Just make sure you get the right size for your kid.
I have seen brand new mx500 faster than mx650 and vice versa. There is variation in manufacturing. How I suspected the bikes were all the same was last year I replaced the 500w motor on my sons SX500 with factory direct MX650 motor and the top speed was unchanged. The I bought a MX500 & MX650 to prove to myself all the bikes are the same inside (batteries, controller & motor)
yes, the mx650 does 17 mph; the mx500 does the same. The SX500 (green) did 17.6 mph with stock 500w motor; I swapped the motor with a brand new Razor MX650 motor and the top speed dropped to 17.1 mph. That's when it planted the seed for the video. I've seen mx500 faster than mx650 and vise versa. there is slight differences in manufacturing can make a change in performance.
i mod my bikes and i put a 56v batter 40vmoter so it goes 70mph
@davidebel9276 The 650 motor has a different sticker. Last year I swapped 500w motor with Razor factory direct 650w motor on my sons bike and there was NO change in top speed and we couldn't notice a change in torque. That's what planted the seed for the this video. Upon opening MX650, MX500 & SX500 the batteries & controllers are all the same. There is slight variation in manufacturing which makes one bike slightly faster than another, but I've seen brand new MX500 faster then MX650 and vise versa
The MX650 and MX500 is the same bike just different colors. If there is a perform ace gain is negligible as I put the 650 motor on my sons SX500 and there was not performance change
from the Y in the seat to foot pegs: SX500 measures 16 inches, MX650 & MX500 is 15 inches As for going to Li-Ion Battery over stock battery. The Stock batteries have 12Ah. The 36V Li-ion battery I used is 16 Ah which is 33% (16/12) more ride time which is over hour. If you go to 20Ah battery you will ride for 90+ minutes
not necessary. I replaced motor on SX500 with MX650 motor, no speed change. I replaced the controller with aftermarket 36v/1000w controller and there was no change. You have to change motor sprocket or go to 48V in order to gain top end speed. see my other videos
@snitchywitchy7930 Last year I Installed a Razor factory MX650 motor on my kids SX500 and the performance was unchanged from the 500w motor... that’s when I started to suspect that they were all the same.
Last year I Installed a Razor factory MX650 motor on my kids SX500 and the performance was unchanged from the 500w motor... that’s when I started to suspect that they were all the same. I recently bought Mx500 and Mx650 and took them apart to to prove to myself that the controller & batteries was the same across all the models. Then I made this video to help others out. There is some slight variation in manufacturing of the motor, hence the reason I’ve seen some Brand new Mx500 faster than mx650’s, but there all about the same top speed
@chrisyt7917 I ended up getting the MX650 but it’s much better
Yes I would be too small I would recommend you get the SX500 Or MX650 but I own a SX 500 it’s really good it’s more of an off road Bike The MX 650 it’s not really good for any type of terrain but there is another type that’s pretty much only for sidewalks and stuff are the RSF which is also made by razor But I wouldn’t recommend that One It looks really ugly and doesn’t perform the best in my opinion SX500 but MX 650 is pretty good But not as much is the SX The good thing about it though is that it’s a bit bigger but if you wanna know where to buy it ask me i’ll tell you yeah but in my opinion SX500 is the best
